John Wesley’s Thoughts on Government and Justice

Today’s devotion is a short word from Pastor Robert Barnes:

America today is torn by arguments about how society can be more just but, sadly, some Christians have been taught that this is not our concern.

One of the reasons I remain in a church that was birthed by the Wesleyan revival is that I see in that revival a model for the body of Christ BOTH bringing souls to Christ AND caring about their lives here on earth.

The document pictured below is not really a “manifesto” per se, that John Wesley wrote as a political statement. It is rather a collected list of beliefs Wesley derived from the Bible about how we ought to govern ourselves. They remind us that those who do the most good for the present world are those who truly think the most about the next.
