One of the great mistakes that many Christians make today is to believe that their witness and walk is mainly about being “liked”. The reason that this is “wrong thinking” is that although there is nothing inherently evil about being likeable, following someone who was crucified is seldom, if ever, the way to win a popularity contest.
So, if the weight of the world’s opinion ever gets you down, then take a few moments today to be reminded of some things Jesus said about following him. His way may seem difficult, but loving everyone is a lot easier than trying to make everyone like you.
