As human beings we are always trying to put God’s salvation on sale. We want all of the benefit with none of the cost. To put it theologically, sometimes we want to accept the salvation that Christ purchased for us on the Cross, without actually having to follow him.
The reality is that it simply doesn’t work that way. Our sin, the decisions we make disobey God, can drive a wedge between ourselves and God unless it is dealt with some way. This is simply a spiritual reality.
