Bitterness is a poison that we give to ourselves. Resentment is a disease that eats at our hearts. Most of us know that and yet we can find ourselves harboring bitterness and resentment anyway. Is there anything we can do about that?
Lent is about giving things up, and when we ponder that fact, we often think of giving things up that we want to keep. But Lent can also be about giving up things we want to get rid of. In today’s devotion, Rev. Barnes shares some wise words from Rev. Jeff Greenway, a leader in the United Methodist Church and the Wesleyan Covenant Association. After serving God faithfully and successfully for three and a half decades, Jeff has experienced his share of frustration, and as a result he can point us towards a better way than resentment and bitterness.
