Many of us never think of figs unless we are buying a particular brand of cookie. In Jesus’ day, however, figs were both an important food and a symbol of God’s blessing; all of which makes it striking that Jesus once cursed a fig tree for not bearing fruit.
What does that mean to us? More than you might think. So, as you prepare to worship God this Holy Week, why not pause a few moments to consider, what Jesus once said to a fig tree, and why it matters to us today.
