The Virus and the Bible, Part II (When We Don’t Agree With What Is Happening)

The Virus and the Bible, Part II (When We Don’t Agree With What Is Happening)

The Coronavirus has created a crisis in which national, state, and local governments have become more involved in our day to day lives. As a result, we have had to learn to live with government shutdowns, vaccination policies, and mask mandates. Everyone is struggling with this “new normal” and many people are very angry at it. This is as true in the church, as any place else.

So how do we respond to this situation as Christians?
Last week, we looked at how the Bible actually establishes a precedent for communal health standards and laws. (It’s funny what one can find in the book of Leviticus!) This week we will look at the inevitable question that arises when such standards and laws are introduced. “What do we do when we believe the government standards and laws are wrong?”

If you truly care about how the Bible teaches us to live our lives in such a time as this, then listen to this week’s midweek devotion. No matter who you are, and what you think about COVID-19, you will find something in Scripture to support… and challenge you.
